Project started November 2023, still ongoing. This mustang stallion is another Breyer traditional plastic model. It took quite a long time to prep his body and to get rid of his moulded mane and building up his butt instead (with only carving off and carving out the original plastic). Also his right ear is from complete original plastic and was carved out only and did not need to be resculpted. He was base coated with a special tone of grey and airbrushed again with white so he got a soft shading in his white parts. Then he was completely shaded with brown pastel dust and some other coloured pastels, too, to create more and more depths. His dapples are a really close replica from a real life reference. Next he is obtaining more detail and a small tobiano pattern. In the end I will create his multicoloured nylon hair.

Pocahontas

Finished March 2023. This high expression mustang mare made from a Breyer plastic figurine came directly from my concrete imagination to life. I set so much passion into all her details, that she's easily the most time consuming modelhorse I created so far. She was a really valuable learning journey for improving pattern details and hooves. She also is the first ever Breyer model that got barbie horse like hair, which I was most excited about. She looks almost as proud as me when I finally finished her after more than 100 hours of work. Her hooves alone took 12 hours for the repaint only. The whole piece was done in acrylics with pastels and brush.

Narand Sharsan

Finished August 2022. Actually this was the second Breyer traditional custom I started but set to a pause for the NaMoPaiMo horse, which is why he is the third finished piece. He is an original plastic Breyer model. I resculpted a few details and painted him with brush and pastel dust. He has an amazing depth in his dappling and a dramatic sooty shading just like the Achal Tekes tend to have. For his markings I studied some specificly bred horses, in which the stallion brings such pretty spotted patterns to all his foals.

Dandelion

Finished May 2022. This plastic figurine originally is a 1:9 Breyer Othello mold. While the NaMoPaiMo 2022 I spent weeks correcting, sanding and modelling the complete body of the horse to achieve the best possible detail prepping. After that I started with the first layer of acrylics and started to shade many layers of pastel pigment dust. Dandelion has lots of very soft detail shading and is dappled allover his body. The tobiano pattern was made with hair by hair edges. All his details in hair, feathering, hooves eyes, face are very fine and extremely detailed.

Finished in September 2021. This pure white draft stallion was the first traditional sized Breyer plastic model I repainted. As he is a very old mold of this factory, he needed really much sanding and prepping before I could start repainting him. He's all done with traditional brush and acrylics and the dry brush method, which gave him really really soft and smooth shading in the pinking especially! He also got a little blonde shading down to his feet and mane and tail with pretty highlights. The hooves are nicely striped and shaded.
